Highland Competition

The Highland Dance competitions will be held on Saturday March 31st, and Sunday April 1st 2011 at Kapiolani Park in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. To enter to be in the competition, your application must be postmarked by March 1, 2012.

To particpate in the highland competition, simply download, print, and mail the following application to Flora Schupp, 244 Awakea Road, Kailua, HI 96734 USA.

Dancing Rules and Info

1. Competition governed by SOBHD rules. FUSTA ID USW0601.
2. For Beginner and Novice dancers the two days of competition is considered one competition. Aggregate
trophy will be awarded at the end of dancing on Sunday.
3. Trophy Fling for Beginner and Novice dancers does not count toward aggregate points.
4. Change of status must be phoned or emailed to Flora Schupp 717-253-0266 / fschupp@hawaii.rr.com by
March 25, 2012.
5. Age is as of March 31, 2012.
6. *All competitors must include their FUSTA/ScotDance or SOBHD affiliate number on the entry form and
must present their registration card on the day of the competition. ALL Dancers who do not have their
current card with them, regardless of whether or not they win any prizes, must pay the $5 penalty fee
and show a copy of the card to the organizer within 10 days of the competition. In addition, the
names of all dancers without their cards will be sent to Diane Krugh, FUSTA National Registrar.
*This is a new rule as of 2011.
7. Only one entrant per entry form.
8. Classes may be combined or split at the discretion of the dancing committee. All classes to be split at the
close of entries.
9. First entered will be last to dance. Competitors not present when scheduled or causing delay will forfeit
entry in the event.
10. Competition approximate start times, competitor number and schedule will be emailed by March 15, 2012.
11. Any attempt to approach a judge or dance piper by any competitor or their parent may result in
disqualification.
12. The decisions of the judges are final. Protests must be made in writing and in the hands of the Games
Executive Secretary along with a $25.00 fee prior to the end of the day’s competition. If the protest is
sustained, the fee will be returned.
13. It is the responsibility of the competitor to pick up all awards at the Competition. Failure to do so will result
in forfeiture of all awards.

15. Entries open December 18, 2011 and close March 1, 2012. Late entries accepted at double the entry fee.

16. Fees must accompany application and entry form. NO REFUNDS.
17. Payment will only be accepted in U.S. Dollars in the form of a money order or bank draft made payable to
The Hawaiian Scottish Association.

19. Choreography rules as per SOBHD. Group choreographies may consist of pre-premier and premier
dancers. Solo choreographies will be split into pre-premier and premier. Pre-premier dancers do not receive
stamps for choreographed events.
20. Group Choreography entry form and fees may be mailed with any one dancer in the group.
21. Solo Choreography time limit of 3 minutes. Group Choreography time limit of 3 minutes.
22. Choreography music must be on a CD and labeled with dancer or group name.
